About the power of descriptive language.

Here’s a writing challenge: rewrite the above sentences into a horror story by adding descriptive words and phrases.
The boy walked down the street.
He looked at the tree.
He ate an apple.
This is the text one of our students wrote in our last session:

“The empty street was flooded with the last rays of the setting sun when the pale child with empty eyes moved in the direction of the city.
His gaze fell on the tree, and its leaves immediately wilted and its bark became covered with a slimy grey veil.
Among the sluggish foliage of a dead tree was an apple, eaten by worms—disgusting but attractive at the same time.”
